Mittelplate is a drilling and production platform in the German sector of the North Sea, near the island of Trischen offshore Friedrichskoog (Schleswig-Holstein). It produces Germany’s largest oilfield.
Mittelplate is a complex, densely packed installation. Compared to the real structure, my model is very simple. Phantasy as much as knowledge was used to design it. Nevertheless, with the prominent drilling rig and living quarters it resembles the real thing.
