The airline was founded in August 2014 under the name Germania Flug, with the participation of the German airline Germania and the Swiss leisure tourism company
Hotelplan. On February 4, 2019 Germania, after failing to obtain definitive support from a group of investors, declared bankruptcy and suspended all its flights.
Germania Flug was not affected by the bankruptcy of its main shareholder and continued its operations. Shortly afterwards it was reported that Germania’s entire
stake had been sold to Albex Aviation, owner of Air Prishtina. On June 11, 2019 the airline was renamed Chair Airlines.
